Privacy and safety

Clear data boundaries for a direct-giving network.

Cats of Mumbai is built around verified appeals, private receipt handling, redacted public activity, and support paths for anything that feels off.

Effective May 30, 2026. Operator: Cats of Mumbai.

What stays private

The product separates public trust signals from sensitive operational data. Donors can see whether care is moving forward without exposing private receipts or account records.

Account data

We use your name, email, role, and profile details to run sign-in, dashboards, appeal ownership, gift history, and admin check flows.

Private receipts

Payment receipts, appeal documents, and sensitive caregiver details are access-controlled and only shown to people who need them for checks or verification.

Public activity

Public appeal activity can show gift amount, donor display name unless anonymous, selected care-item labels, verified receipts, and care updates, but not raw donor IDs or private file links.

Verified recipients

Feeder contact and payment fields are masked on public profiles. Approved payment details are only shown in flows where they are needed.

Analytics boundaries

Product analytics can measure page flow, clicks, and drop-off points, but must not carry proof URLs, emails, phone numbers, UPI IDs, donor IDs, or private receipt contents.

Safe giving basics

Cats of Mumbai does not pool donations. It helps donors pay verified vets, shops, and caregivers directly, then keeps a private receipt trail for verification and follow-up.

Donate only through payment details shown inside verified appeals.

Send a receipt only when the app asks for it after a direct payment.

Do not use payment details sent by private message unless they match the verified appeal.

Report suspicious appeals, duplicate cats, or payment-detail changes.

Do not post personal phone numbers, addresses, or private medical files in public comments.

Payment and receipt policy

Direct payments

Cats of Mumbai does not collect, hold, or escrow donor funds. Donors pay verified recipients directly and send a private receipt for verification.

Receipt access

Payment receipts and appeal documents are treated as private operational records. They are used for verification and checks, not public browsing.

Public fields

Cat names, city, story, photos, comments, updates, care items, gift amount, donor display name unless anonymous, and selected care label may be public.

Data retention

Account, appeal, and care-record entries are retained while they are needed for safety, verification, abuse prevention, legal operations, and account closure requests.

Processors

Cats of Mumbai uses Supabase for auth, database, and storage, Cloudflare for hosting and delivery, and may use privacy-screened analytics tools to improve the product.

Corrections

Send appeal corrections, account closure requests, or suspected misuse to support@catsofmumbai.com with the relevant cat or appeal link.

Analytics and session replay

Cats of Mumbai may use privacy-safe analytics to understand page flow, clicks, drop-off points, mobile usability, and product errors. These tools should help improve the service without turning private giving, payment, receipt, support, or admin work into recorded browsing material.

Masked by default

Any heatmap or replay tool must mask inputs, donor notes, payment details, receipt files, private proof previews, admin queues, and support/privacy request flows before it is enabled.

No private identifiers

Analytics events must not include proof URLs, private file paths, emails, phone numbers, UPI IDs, bank details, donor IDs, full payment references, or private document names.

Limited replay

Session replay should be sampled and disabled for receipt uploads, payment-detail areas, admin review work, profile editing, and support/privacy forms unless a privacy review approves a narrow exception.

Heatmap or replay tools should be enabled only after these controls are configured, verified in staging, and reflected in this policy.

Important limits

Cats of Mumbai is not an emergency veterinary service, payment processor, escrow provider, or tax advisor. Use the platform to read appeal details, pay verified recipients directly, and share a receipt when requested.

Need help or want to report a concern?

Send screenshots, appeal links, and a short description to support@catsofmumbai.com. Keep full payment reference numbers and sensitive documents out of email unless support specifically asks for them.

Appeal concern

Wrong recipient, stale deadline, duplicate case, or suspicious receipt.

Account/data request

Correction, export, deletion, or visibility questions.

Payment follow-up

Receipt mismatch, unclear receipt, refund question, or fraud report.

Operational support should acknowledge urgent safety or payment-fraud reports within one business day and privacy/data requests within seven business days.
